GLOBAL OCEAN SERIES

Fundraising Art Exhibition for Global Relief

This collection of paintings was inspired by a prayer said in the early stages of the ongoing pandemic in 2020. The inspiration of this prayer carried a message regarding global Unity, Dignity and Respect for all peoples and lands of the globe. In response to this, one painting for each world continent was created, alongside research to gain understanding, depicting a shoreline where the water meets land.

With one global body of water, this great ocean links all of the continents together and blesses them equally with waves carrying love, blessings and respect. While the ocean is a place where many hardships take place, including but not limited to wars, displaced peoples, great storms and disputes over resources, the ocean is also a place which connects all continents as a shared medium, and this exhibition explores the ocean in this way.

Follow the Sun as it rises in India, and heads Westward across the globe, over Europe, Africa, the Americas / Turtle Island, towards Australia, and sets with a rising moon in Antarctica.

The purpose of this exhibition is, in addition to spreading the message shared above, to raise funds for families in need at this time. 40% of proceeds will be given to families in need through a word-of-mouth referral system. If you would like to refer a family in need, or inquire about how this works, please contact the artist.

“Life surrounds you with challenges that become unbearable. Stand with strength and you will see what is bearable. Listen to what is needed to hear so that it is clear and concise. Life completes itself, surrounds itself with every leaf and wind, blown sand… Our mind climbs high to greater thought and visions. Our eyes cannot feel but see what we cannot see, it is clear. Our mind climbs high to feel the storm of words to light the path. We are nothing but despair and grief that control our grasp. We know, but nothing feels limitless. We are the stars and the universe. We are important we are sincere we love we hate we live we die. We climb higher to the stars to the heavens we feel no pain.” - Kirby Mianskum, Moose Cree First Nation, North America / Turtle Island

“Different skin colours.
Different languages.
Different cultures.
Different tribes.
Different blood groups.
BUT BLOOD GROUPS HAVE ONE COLOUR.
UNITY BRINGS VICTORY - DIVISION BRINGS DEFEAT.
Peace reigns when Justice is done.
Treating mankind well makes you see the Glory of God.” - Daniel Nkrumah Boamah, Kumasi, Ghana, Africa

"As soon as we’re able to step into someone else’s shoes and imagine life through another’s eyes, we realize we have a lot more in common with each other than we think. At a very basic level, we all love, worry for and try to protect our loved ones, feel pain and loss, dream and wonder. The very fundamentals of the human experience, though vastly different in range and context, thread us together. We are all connected and the sooner we realize this, the sooner we can ask how can I love more? Make the world a better place? How can I reach out a hand and offer help to someone who may be suffering. What can I do with my heart, my mind and my hands to contribute in a meaningful way with my precious time on Earth? Empathy is one of our greatest gifts." - Sarah Elizabeth Richardson, Toronto, North America / Turtle Island
